Iranian kamanche virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor returns to Washington with Brooklyn Rider to perform a “melding of cultures, genres, and musical minds.” Performing with them will be New York-based percussionist and drummer Mathias Kunzli. (Brooklyn Rider have collaborated on Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project.)
At 6:15 p.m., Dr. Taoufiq ben Amor will make a pre-concert presentation on “States of Mind: Music in Islamic Sufi Rituals," part of the Music and the Brain II series, in the Whittall Pavilion (no tickets required).
