Born to Arméno-Greek father and mother (from Smyrna and Istanbul, respectively), exiled from Lebanon, young Abaji arrived in France in 1976. Last year, he returned to Lebanon for the first time in 33 years to perform from his fifth album, Origin Orients. Abaji plays guitar, clarinet, percussion, oud, bouzouki, and flute. His compositions synthesize his musical passions: Indian, Eastern, and Blues, influenced by Gabriel Yared. With Origin Orient, he celebrates in music in all five languages of his family: Arabic, Armenian, French, Greek, and Turkish.
